From volcanic peaks with 360 degree views to historic sites, bush clad backdrops and an ocean beach full of activities, Tairua caters for all.
Escape from it all to Slipper Island, one of New Zealand's few privately owned islands, only a short boat trip out from Tairua harbour. The island offers a lodge, chalets and good camping facilities.
Tairua is only minutes away from bush and kauri grove walks, old mines and caves to explore and fresh water swimming holes. Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach, Hahei, and Sailors Grave are all short drives away and Pauanui is only a short ferry ride across the harbour.
