A regional hub located on the edge of the Hauraki Plains and the entrance to the Karangahake Gorge is popular for its heritage, gold mining history, walkways, fishing, rock climbing, swimming and as a welcoming trail town on the Hauraki Rail Trail.

Paeroa is the self-proclaimed "Antiques Capital of New Zealand" and home to the therapeutic spring water which, mixed with lemon, is what we know today as the drink Lemon & Paeroa (or L&P) “World Famous in New Zealand."

Stay & Explore

Paeroa is an ideal mid-journey stop if you are travelling between Auckland and Tauranga or Rotorua, but there are plenty of reasons to plan a proper stay. The home of the iconic 'Lemon & Paeroa' soft drink offers several fine cafes, fascinating local attractions, plenty of antique shops to explore and - not to be forgotten - the breathtaking Karangahake Gorge to explore.  You can easily spend a couple of days here, or longer as a base for adventures around The Coromandel.
