Thames Coast/Coromandel The fourth annual Pohutukawa Festival will take place from Friday, 28th November to Sunday 7th December 2003 and aims to raise funds and awareness of the native Pohutukawa tree and Project Crimson, whilst celebrating in the Coromandel. Timed to coincide with their flowering, you'll see why the Pohutukawa is known as New Zealand's Christmas Tree. . Check out their website

23 Whitianga The Tiger Moth Club is organising a two-week Vintage Air Rally from Bluff to North Cape, starting 23 February 2004. Whitianga is a planned overnight stop on Monday 1 March, and aeroplanes will depart the next morning for Kaipara Flats (Warkworth) and Dargaville. This event follows successful vintage rallies the full length of New Zealand in 1990 and 2000, and up to a dozen colourful biplanes are expected from the UK as well as 50 or more local aircraft.
