Whiritoa Beach is populated by kiwi baches and a general store. Found on the Pacific Coast Highway Whiritoa is a great place to fish, surf and snorkel.
It is also popular with photographers and artists who like to capture life as it should be. A 15 minute walk will take you to the secluded Waimama Bay that features white sand, crystal clear waters and a canopy of gnarly Pohutukawa trees. A popular spot for romance and picnics on the beach, Whiritoa and Waimama will have you falling in love with The Coromandel. NOTE: If your looking at holding your wedding ceremony here, please contact Hauraki District Council to find out more about any consent requirements. SURFING WHIRITOA: The steep shore creates a solid beach break for the experienced surfer chasing short rides and a wandering sandbar for those keen to search. SAFETY: Whiritoa Beach has a steep shore resulting in heavy shore breaks that can be dangerous. The beach is patrolled by Surf Life Saving New Zealand in the summer. Always swim between the flags.
