The ever-popular Mercury Bay Art Escape Open Studio weekends are held every year over the first 2 weekends in March and draw many art-loving visitors to the stunning coastal area of Mercury Bay on the Eastern Coromandel Peninsula. This stunning self-drive art tour includes 50+ artists centred around the picturesque coastal area of Mercury Bay on the Eastern Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand, encompassing the areas of Hikuai, Tairua, Hahei, Hot Water Beach, Cooks Beach, Whenuakite, Coroglen, Whitianga, Kuaotunu, Rings Beach, Opito Bay and Matarangi. Coupled with world-class scenery, eateries and wineries and it is a great opportunity to stay and enjoy art.  

The annual artist's open studios provide a unique opportunity to visit member artists in their studios, to see their work in progress, find what inspires them and what new art they are working on. It also gives you the chance to buy original work from some of the best artists in Mercury Bay direct from their studios.

The artists make up a rich and eclectic mix of the arts including potters, sculptors, painters, printmakers, photographers, flax weavers, woodworkers, mosaic artists, jewellers, a glass artist and a furniture maker.
