How does Membership work?
Tourism Coromandel is a membership based organisation. Membership is an annual fee set at the AGM and ensures:
| a] |
you’re contributing towards the flow of visitors coming into the region. |
| b] |
you get a say in how the industry develops going forward. |
| c] |
you get to vote on important issues at the AGM. |
| d] |
you have access to Tourism Coromandel staff for advice, or to help lobby on important issues. |
| e] |
you can advertise in Tourism Coromandel’s publications. |
| f] |
you are kept in the loop with Talking Tourism – the regions industry tourism newsletter. |
The industry at our previous AGM set the annual membership fee at $225. The general consensus from the industry is that this is a small price to pay for such a large influx of visitors into the region each year.
Tourism Coromandel also receives funding from the Thames Coromandel District Council and Hauraki District Council. This funding is crucial to the existence of the organisation and without it Tourism Coromandel would not exist.
The funding recognises that other sectors of the business community also receive flow on economic benefits from tourism eg. service stations, chemists, bakeries etc. and is rated from the business community at large – not just tourism operators. However an essential part of securing this annual funding is proving to our councils that we already have a large coordinated contribution from the local industry in the form of membership.
