The tranquil river park is a great stop-off point on the Hauraki Rail Trail, worth a visit for its interesting collection of maritime objects. A beautiful restored kauri paddleboat cruises the smooth waters of the Waihou and Ohinemuri Rivers.

The park grounds are extensive, large trees and gardens with tranquil river views and an historic atmosphere.

The rustic sheds and historic buildings house an important collection of maritime history relating to the role that Paeroa played as a port, including visits from Captain Cook, Northern Steam Ship Company and naval ships.

We also offer paddle boat rides on the Tamati. The Tamati is a lovingly restored kauri paddleboat originally built in 1902 and rebuilt in 2001. It was brought up from Hari Hari, Hokitika to provide river cruises on the Ohinemuri and Waihou Rivers.

Tamati is available for weddings, birthdays and other private functions including group tours.  Departure times differ each day as the voyage is tide dependent

The Museum is open 10am - 3pm every day.

Museum and grounds entry fees:

Adults $8.00
Family (2 adults + 2 children) $20.00
Children up to high school age $3.00
Children under 5 years FREE

Self-contained camper-vans and tents are welcome on site, and visiting vessels are always welcome. The park is a great place to launch kayaks as well.
