The K2 is the toughest one day cycle challenge in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also one of the most scenic and varied as it circumnavigates The Coromandel.

Every year the event starts in a different town, Tairua in 2021, circumnavigating The Coromandel. The K2 is also one of the most scenic and varied races with the route traveling through sub tropical forest, pacific coastlines, rural farmland and the Pohutukawa coastline of the Hauraki Gulf.

There is a range of different options for all aspirations, with the full 200km solo race probably the toughest one-day road cycle race in the Southern hemisphere!

The Mito Q K2 is an extremely  tough race with a number of significant climbs. We would recommend that you get some training in on the course prior to the big day.
We would also recommend that if you have any concerns about your health that you have a medical check prior to the event.

The Elite Men will race the Mito Q K2 course in a separate start, 15 minutes before the rest of the field.
Starts in Tairua at 7.45am and finishes back in Tairua. This race is for professional and semi professional riders who are likely to complete the Mito Q K2 course in less than 5.40 hours. Total 192km.
You need a Cycling NZ Licence or equivalent overseas licence.

Starts in Tairua at 8.00am and finishes back in Tairua.  This race is for the weekend warriors and recreational riders.  Total 192km.
Note there will be an early start at 6.00am for slower riders expecting to take 9 hours or more.
