This self guided tour has it all as you ride the Old Colville Road. Travel through remote bush, forest and farmland with massive seaviews out across the Hauraki Gulf. This is a day of discovery and adventure as you ride along the Tokatea ridgeline.

Distance: Approx 56kms return loop.
Experience: Average level of fitness required.  Ideal for those that have off-road biking experience and are looking for a challenge. Track is a Grade 3 level.
Time Allow a full day. Departs from 105 Wharf Road, Coromandel at 8.30 a.m.
Surface Bush trails, forestry and farm tracks with the return trip via a tarsealed road.  Can experience some muddy patches and slippery inclines where bike portage is required. Three to four steeper hills to conquer but the electric bike takes care of these.

Tour Details:  Your day begins with a complimentary drive to the start of the trail at 412m above sea level.  Ride the ridgeline of the Coromandel Ranges through a remote bush track, pine forest, and exclusive farmland. Pass through White Star Station, well known for its bush lodges, hereford cattle, manuka honey and pony trekking.  Collect your thoughts at the Mahamudra Centre, a Tibetan Buddhist Retreat with its not to be missed Stupa at the gateway entrance. Drop-in visitors are welcome to see their beautiful Buddhist artwork, have a cup of tea or coffee, browse through the shop, or relax in the gardens.

Your Colville destination features a very iconic store and a couple of very cool cafes.  Local Art Studios add their individual flavours to your day.  Explore the inner harbour heading past what was the old Tokatea Hotel now re-sited on Wharf Road. Further along, was the old Colville butchery/bakery from 1875 now beautifully restored. Stop off at the end of Wharf Road and imagine what was once a busy wharf dating back to the late 1890’s. The return trip to Coromandel Town, at your leisure, is via the quiet Colville Road passing through some beautiful, tranquil seaside locations.
Toilets and café available at Colville (some seasonal hours apply) and accommodation at White Star Station or Colville Bay Motel should you wish to stay the night.  We can deliver your gear for free.

Price: For the months of March to May and September to November Free Transport to the start of the Trail......normally $120 per person reduced to $110 - Minimum two people - Includes Quality European electric MTB.  We will also provide gate keys, map, helmet, bike lock, hi-visibility vest, and roomy pannier bag.  Not ready for an e-bike? We can certainly price in an Avanti Standard MTB for you.
